Basic Life Saving, also known as the Red Cross, was among the first activities and offerings at camp! The 1927 catalog is the first catalog in which the campers who passed the Senior and Junior Life Saving certification were pictured. To this day, as from Camp Kawanhee’s inception, Life Saving has been an important part of the Kawanhee program.

Pictured are some of the patches those who passed the certifications received.
