Lake Webb

“Almost Defying Description”

The history of Camp Kawanhee revolves around Lake Webb. The Frank brothers, in awe of its beauty, eventually purchased land on the shore to create Camp Kawanhee and the Kawanhee Inn. Lake Webb would quickly become the focal point for many camp activities and would become part of the recognizable landscape for Kawanhee.

The dazzling waterfront spans for four miles and is a popular sailing and fishing waterfront for many. The Maine lake is used not only for fun activities but has also been used in cases of fire emergencies. The first destructive fire at Kawanhee took place in the mid-1940s at an outpost a few campers had built, but the fire was quickly under control thanks to the formation of a bucket brigade from Lake Webb to the area of the fire.

Lake Webb continues to be a gem snuggled between lovely Maine mountains that provides Kawanhee campers, Weld residents, and visitors alike with wonderful views, temperate water for swimming, and miles for fun activities!
